Mark Clattenburg is an English professional football referee, who officiates primarily in the Premier League, and for FIFA. Clattenburg has refereed a number of notable matches. Mark became a FIFA referee in 2006, at the age of 30, two years after turning professional.
Quick decisions, big decisions and controversial decisions, is the everyday life of Mark.
The paper Telegraph describes one of the most famous referee’s like this: Clattenburg generally shows yellow and red cards at the right time, has a time-keeping habit that is appropriate, and seems to have an affable relationship with players.
He has also shown no hint he is pursuing a career on the after dinner speaking circuit while refereeing, keeping his ego. The truth is that when it comes to the big decisions, there is still no better referee than Clattenburg.
Also described as firm but fair, and misses very little. Uefa and Fifa both regard his work very highly.
A former colleague says “It is like the massive 80’s hit by Chaka Khan (Ain’t nobody does it better)”.
